Nothing Definitive is structured slightly different than other blogs for a very specific reason. I considered using MediaWiki for this project, but ultimately wanted the flexibility and potential of WordPress.

Instead of “blog posts”, Nothing Definitive consists of “sequences”. Structurally they are identical, but I treat them differently. Every post on this site is never “static” in the sense that I write it, publish it, and move on. Instead they are like research papers that I initially publish and then return to, numerous times, with the hope of providing additional insight into what’s changed. Here are some things I considered for each sequence:

  • Has my opinion or perspective changed?
  • What new insight have I gained?
  • How does this opinion seem in retrospect?
  • How did this idea evolve over time?

Ultimately I plan to post, evolve, and share sequences of posts that help other people quickly grasp what I’m talking about AND move them forward along the line of thinking faster than it took myself. I find that it takes months for truly novel perspective to alter some of my existing beliefs. Hopefully this will expedite the process for you and provide me with even more insight and corrections in my belief structures.

There are also two other categories called “Posts” and “Articles”. Posts are personal updates regarding myself or the website. They might also include things I want to share as I come across them on the web. Articles are formal posts concerning a singular topic that combine everything I currently know. Generally they are reserved for long-lasting patterns of thought that seem accurate and consistent to the human experience.
