I’m sick of reading vacuous and vitriolic posts on social media and all of my social media accounts have become bloated with follows. So I started to clean things up and took a new approach.
First is Snapchat, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, and LinkedIn. These platforms are now exclusively for real-world connections. No companies, no brands, no organizations or institutions, etc. Every post I see needs to be a real person.
Second is X (Twitter). I’ve created a list of organizations and pinned it to the home feed. It allows me to follow a small curated group without ever seeing any other posts.

Third, I started cleaning up my YouTube subscriptions to better match the curated sources and I use the subscriptions page to limit my viewing to those sources. This helps eliminate the algorithm which tries to entice me with echo chamber content, low credibility content, doom scrolling content, etc.
Lastly, I will avoid other platforms like Reddit, Truth Social, Blue Sky, etc. because they produce low credibility, echo chamber content.
